Chapter 2.92

09-06-16_2-31-24-pm

—Camille—

I leaned away from Shirley as my phone started to buzz. A smile curled my lips when I saw our daughter’s number, and I brought the phone up to my ear. “Hey, Loralee, how’s – “

“Mama,” Loralee said urgently, cutting through my greeting. “Blake’s in trouble. He just called me, and Huy caught him with his boyfriend, and you need to go and get him.”

09-06-16_2-33-14-pm

My eyes peeled wide as the words spilled out of her. “Honey, slow down. You’re not making sense. What happened?” Beside me, Shirley turned to look on with concern.

The young woman took a shaky breath and let it out. “I just got off the phone with Blake,” she said much more calmly. “Huy caught him with his boyfriend and completely lost it. He hit him, Mama. He asked me to come get him, but I can’t leave the restaurant.”

09-06-16_2-34-26-pm

That bastard, I seethed inwardly. “Don’t worry; I’m going to leave right now.” I started to hang up, but her voice came over the line again.

“Mama, make him call the cops. I don’t know if he’ll do it on his own.”

“Oh, believe me, Huy is going to jail tonight.”

09-06-16_2-36-35-pm

The moment I ended the call, Shirley asked, “What’s going on, Camille?”

“I don’t really have time to explain.” I got to my feet and went to grab my keys from the table by the door. “Huy’s in need of an ass kicking.”

09-06-16_2-39-00-pm

I hurried out the door and down the stairs. I let him get away with just a restraining order when he laid a hand on me. Not this time!

I set a new personal record and broke every speed limit from Newcrest to Willow Creek. I’d never been to the house before, but I had the address and GPS was a miracle worker. In no time flat, I was charging up the front steps.

09-06-16_2-54-09-pm

I beat on the door, ready to break it down with my bare hands, and then tried the handle. To my surprise, it swung inward.

09-06-16_2-55-11-pm

“Camille?” Anna’s shocked voice came from the entry into the kitchen.

“Where’s Blake?”

“In his room,” she said timidly. “Did Blake call you?”

“Loralee,” I said simply and started up the stairs. “Blake?”

09-06-16_2-56-27-pm

A door opened and Blake’s bloodied face appeared. “Camille?” He asked, echoing his mother.

Behind me, I heard heavy footsteps that could only mean Huy was coming. “Loralee called me. Will you come with me?”

The teenager let out a relieved breath. “Yes.”

09-06-16_3-00-17-pm

The two of us headed down the stairs only to find Huy standing between us and the front door.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing here?” He pointed a finger up the stairs. “Blake, get your ass back in your room.”

“The only place he’s going,” I said with a calmness I didn’t really feel, “is home with me.” I wasn’t calm – I was livid. I was practically vibrating with anger. How could a father lift a hand to his own child?

09-06-16_3-05-41-pm

“The fuck he is! So you can make him an even bigger fag? Get the fuck out of my house, you worthless dyke.” He kept getting louder and his face went from flushed to downright purple. I almost hoped he’d save us the trouble of going to the police station and stroke out right there.

09-06-16_3-06-45-pm

“I swear to God, Huy, if you don’t get out of our way, I’m calling the cops.”

The man froze and narrowed his eyes at me. “No you won’t. You didn’t before and you won’t now.”

09-06-16_3-08-00-pm

“Unlike you, I’ve gotten smarter with age.” I pulled out my phone.

Fine,” he hissed. “Take that piece of shit – “he cast a vile look at Blake”- and get out of my sight.” He threw up his hands and walked away from the door.

09-06-16_3-19-14-pm

I watched him go and saw Anna, standing exactly where she’d been when I entered the house. Tears shone in her eyes. I felt sorry for her; Huy had broken her a long time ago. I thought about asking her to get Brianna and come with us, but that might send Huy over the edge. Perhaps she’d find the strength herself to leave when the police came knocking on the door.

09-06-16_3-21-54-pm

I took Blake’s arm and walked out of the house with him. “Are you okay?”

He nodded jerkily. “Y-yeah,” he said, a tremble in his voice. “I just…I can’t believe today. I just want to sleep for, like, a year.”

He started to go to the car but I stopped him. “Blake, you know we have to go to the police, right?”

09-06-16_3-24-05-pm

He winced a little and shifted on his feet. “Yeah,” he admitted reluctantly. I understood why he was reluctant; even if, over the years, he’d wished for his mom to leave Huy or maybe even for her to call the police herself on him, it was different to be personally responsible if his own father ended up in prison.

09-06-16_3-25-20-pm

“I’ll be with you the whole way,” I promised him. Together, we got into the car.

Camille to the rescue! ❤ I feel like not many people would do something so kind for their douche ex's kid. It really shows how far she's come and how caring she is!

I REALLY hoped Camille called the police on Huy’s abusive ass.

Since you know, he deserves it.

Glad that Camille made her way into this! I really want to Huy to be arested, but his wife is a stay-at-home-mom, after all, so I wonder how is she going to have money to erase her childrem, and also, wat to do with the oldest, that, is just like huy.( I know, TERIBBLE thing to say.)

This made me want to cry! Blake’s face after Huy beat him is terrible. Oh my goodness. There is NEVER an excuse for child abuse, and even if Blake is becoming a young adult soon, he is, in fact, STILL A CHILD.

Go to hell, Huy. Burn there.

Omg I love wordless chapters and who better to stand up to Huy than Camille!! I just hope Camille called Tommy and Huy gets arrested for child abuse.

I have a confession….It wasn’t supposed to be wordless. XD I forgot to put in the words. If you refresh, the words are now there. I’m going to post something right now to tell people to go back and read. [embarrassed forever]

Honestly it completely worked as a wordless and now I am so excited to read it too to see if what I thought was happening did happen!! ♥️

I’m really glad things were still clear with only the pictures. I’m really surprised by how well it worked without the words. I might’ve been tempted to leave it and then insert another chapter after it, but we’ve got a time jump coming up on Saturday, so I needed the words.

Yeah I think the only thing that may not have been clear without the words is that they were going directly to the police station.

If it were wordless, a final shot of Camille and Blake walking into the police station would have even made that clear.

Just a beautiful chapter and I loved seeing Camille’s passion!!

I’m glad Camille came to the rescue, but I was wondering if she even had a legal right to take Blake away if Huy didn’t let him go without Blake pressing charges etc. Can’t say I know how this works where you live, but I’m guessing if the police arrived and Blake was too scared to report his father, Camille would probably have to leave him there. 😦
Hopefully, they’ll go to the police now.

You’re right. Legally, she doesn’t have the right, but Huy would rather she just take Blake than call the police. He, of course, didn’t know that they’re going there right away.

I’m glad you added text. It makes much more sense noew😄

It’s good they’re going to the police. I think she shiuld have called the cops on him while they were there though. But i do understand that they didn’t want to stay at the house.
Grrr Huy! How can you hit your child!
And Anna! How can you stand by him and let him hurt YOUR child?! She makes me so frustrated!

    Great chapter btw 😉

Go Camille! (bet you never thought I’d say that, huh? :))

Kind of judging Anna. I get that she finds it hard to stand up Huy for her own sake, but she really needs to for her kids. She’s failing them.
