Slice of Life: Dinner Party

Tommy and I sat down on the couch, completely exhausted. My parents and Luc had just left. Even though I’d had the opportunity to sit down throughout the night, I somehow still felt like I’d been on my feet for hours.

“That went better than the last time they were here.”

I snorted. “Yeah, Mama seems to have finally gotten used to the place.” At first, Mama had had a really tough time with me living here. I think it was even less that I was living away from Newcrest and more that my house wasn’t very nice. But it had been well over a year now. She came over sometimes to take me to lunch or some place, but this was only the third time they’d all stayed for dinner together. This time, I think Mama had finally seen how happy I was.

I leaned over and kissed Tommy. “I love living here with you.”

He smiled and pulled me in close. “I love living here with you too.”
